The invention provides a use of a particle to absorb and retain odiferous compounds, wherein the particle comprises:- (a) a solid core comprising a first hydrophobic polymer, and (b) a shell comprising a second hydrophobic polymer wherein the Tg of the first hydrophobic polymer is lower than the Tg of the second hydrophobic polymer； wherein the particles have a mean particle size of less than 1 micron, preferably from 0.1 to 0.3 microns, and wherein the odiferous compound is a malodour compound.L'invention concerne une utilisation d'une particule destinée à absorber et à retenir des composés odoriférants, ladite particule comprenant : - (a) un noyau solide comprenant un premier polymère hydrophobe, et (b) une enveloppe comprenant un second polymère hydrophobe, la Tg du premier polymère hydrophobe étant inférieure à la Tg du second polymère hydrophobe ； lesdites particules ayant une taille moyenne de particules inférieure à 1 micron, de préférence de 0,1 à 0,3 micron, et ledit composé odoriférant étant un composé malodorant.
