The present invention relates to a method and system that automatically classifies tissue type/patterns and density categories in mammograms. More particularly, the present invention relates to improving the quality of assessing density and tissue pattern distribution in mammography. According to a first aspect, there is provided a computer-aided method of analysing mammographic images, the method comprising the steps of: receiving a mammogram； segmenting one or more anatomical regions of the mammogram； identifying a tissue type and a density category classification for an anatomical region； and using the identified tissue type and density category classifications to generate classifications output for the mammogram.La présente invention concerne un procédé et un système permettant de classer automatiquement des types/motifs de tissu et des catégories de densité dans des clichés mammaires. Plus particulièrement, la présente invention concerne l'amélioration de la qualité d'évaluation de la densité et de la répartition de motifs de tissu en mammographie. Selon un premier aspect, l'invention concerne un procédé assisté par ordinateur d'analyse d'images mammographiques, le procédé comprenant les étapes consistant : à recevoir un cliché mammaire ； à segmenter une ou plusieurs régions anatomiques du cliché mammaire ； à identifier un type de tissu et une classification par catégories de densité concernant une région anatomique ； et à utiliser le type de tissu identifié et les classifications par catégories de densité pour générer des classifications produites pour le cliché mammaire.
