A surgical clip applier comprising: a shaft assembly including surgical clipsin a housing,a jaw adjacent a distal end of the housing and a pusher bar. The pusher barleads a distal-mostsurgical clip into the jaws during distal movement. A connector plate isconnectable to the pusherbar. During initial distal movement of the connector plate the pusher bar isdistally advanced andduring further distal movement the connector plate is disconnected from thepusher bar. Anadvancer plate including a fin is reciprocally disposed within the shaftassembly. A shoulder ofthe pusher bar engages the fin during distal/proximal movement of the pusherbar to effectuatedistal/proximal movement of the advancer plate. A clip follower urges theclips distally. A catchextending from the clip follower engages the pusher bar following firing of alast surgical clip andprevents movement of the pusher bar proximally.
