The present invention relates to a food and drug additive for alleviating inflammation or fatty liver containing tagatose as an active ingredient, or to a food and drug additive composition using the same. Tagatose has excellent anti-inflammatory activity that inhibits LDL phagocytosis induction in macrophage by apoA-I. In a zebra fish model, tagatose reduces serum neutral fat, increased by high cholesterol diet, and exhibits excellent activity of alleviating fatty liver. Therefore, tagatose can be advantageously used as a food and drug additive for alleviating inflammation and fatty liver.본 발명은 염증 또는 지방간 개선 효과를 갖는 타가토스를 유효성분으로 함유하는 식의약품 첨가제 또는 이를 이용한 식의약품 조성물에 관한 것으로, 타가토스는 apoA-I의 대식세포 LDL 탐식 유발을 억제하는 우수한 항염증 활성과, 제브라피쉬 모델에서 고콜레스테롤 식이에 따라 증가된 혈청 중성지방을 감소시키며 지방간을 감소시키는 우수한 지방간 감소 활성을 나타내므로, 염증 또는 지방간 개선용 식의약품 첨가제로서 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
