An intravascular catheter device for use in surgery is provided. The catheter device includes a catheter tube having an expandable portion with a plurality of struts each defining an outer surface. The expandable portion is operable between a closed position where the expandable portion has a first diameter and an open position where the expandable portion has a second diameter greater than the first diameter. An incision element is provided on at least one outer surface of the strut. The incision element has a blade that extends radially outward from the outer surface of the strut to cut the arteriosclerotic material within the blood vessel when the expandable portion is in the open position. ing.
