PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laver manufacturing apparatus capable of sufficiently removing dirt adhering to a sponge member when cleaning the sponge member.SOLUTION: A laver manufacturing apparatus 1 which produces dried laver by sandwiching a laver drainboard 2 on which raw laver is made by a pair of upper and lower sponge members 23, and removing moisture from the raw laver followed by drying the laver drainboard 2 includes: a sponge cleaning unit 40 including a rotary member 42 rotatably provided around a horizontal shaft 43J and a unit movement mechanism 50 for moving the sponge cleaning unit 40 in a horizontal plane internal direction orthogonal to the shaft 43J, in a state of inserting the rotary member 42 into between the upper and lower sponge members 23 so as to bring the outer peripheral surface of the rotary member 42 into contact with both opposed surfaces of the upper and lower sponge members 23.
