A method of manufacturing diapers which do not cause contamination of the wearersskin due to bodily wastes and prevents mixing between liquid and solid bodilywastes. In the method, diapers (1) are manufactured using a continuously suppliedbase sheet (2) having a fixed width. The method has a step of forming a waste opening(7) at a position separated from an imaginary center line (M) bisecting the widthdimension of the base sheet, a step of covering the waste opening by an absorptionpanel (3) and joining the absorption panel to the base sheet along the outer periphery(6) of an absorption core (4), the absorption panel (3) being formed by joiningthe absorption core (4) to the center of a sheet piece (5) having a larger area thanthe absorption core (4), a step of applying a hot melt adhesive (HM) to that portionof the absorption panel(3) which is located between the imaginary center lineand the waste opening and on the opposite side of that surface of the absorptionpanel(3) which is joined to the base sheet, a step of doubling over the base sheetwith the hot melt adhesive-applied surface facing inside, and bonding the superposedareas together, and a step of cutting the base sheet at predetermined intervalsto obtain individual diapers.
