Trees infected with pests are treated by injections of pesticide made by a standard surgical syringe. With a drill holes are bored in the trunk to a depth eg of 10 cm or 1/3 of the trunk dia, and with a dia of eg 8 mm. Into the open end of the bore is inserted a cork plug, through which the injection needle is passed. Emitted pesticide is entrained by the natural rising of sap. Application is made at pref intervals up to trunk height. Opt further injections are applied through the same cork plugs. ADVANTAGE - Min consumption of pesticide and undesirable dissemination of materials into the environment is reduced.
