A pharmaceutical composition suitable for administration to the eye of a steroid compound, which comprises a combination of (a) a lipid mixture mass comprising a phospholipid or mixture of phospholipids and (b) a solution of a steroid compound comprising an effective amount of a steroid compound used in ophthalmologic practice, a derivative thereof, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or prodrug thereof, wherein the total amount of phospholipids in the composition is from about 0.1 mol to less than about 2, 5 micromoles per 50 .mu.l of the pharmaceutical composition and the side effects of said composition is less compared to the same composition, but comprising at least about 5 umol phospholipids pharmaceutical kompozitsii.2 50 ul.
