A seeding machine (14) having at least one tool bar (20), a plurality of row units (24) and a processing circuit. Each of the plurality of row units (24) are connected to the toolbar (20). Each of the row units (24) have a seed metering device (26), a seed placement device (50) and a seed sensor (34). The seed metering device (26) includes a seed disk (28) providing a metering action to a plurality of seeds. The seed placement device (50) receives the seeds from the seed metering device (26). The seed sensor (34) is positioned to detect the passage of seeds through either the metering device (26) or the seed placement device (50). The seed sensor (34) producing a signal indicative of the passage of the seeds. The processing circuit is receptive of the signal from each of the seed sensors (34) of each of the plurality of row units (24). The processing circuit determines a seed placement parameter dependent upon the signal, the processing circuit alters the metering action of the seeds dependent on the seed placement parameter.
