1. A method of modulating the effects of inflammation, including: the introduction to a patient in need of this, a nutritional composition containing an effective amount of exogenous vitamin K2.2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the exogenous vitamin K2 is selected from the group consisting of MK-4, MK-7, and combinations thereof. The method of claim 1, wherein the exogenous vitamin K2 is MK-7.4. The method of claim 1, wherein the effective amount of exogenous vitamin K2 is from about 1 μg to about 100 μg. The method of claim 1, wherein the effective amount of exogenous vitamin K2 is from about 20 μg to about 90 μg. The method according to claim 1, wherein the effective amount of exogenous vitamin K2 is from about 50 μg to about 80 μg. The method according to claim 1, wherein the nutritional composition is in a form suitable for administration, selected from the group consisting of pharmaceutical formulations, nutritional formulations, formulations for administration through a tube, dietary supplements, functional nutritional products and drinks. The method according to claim 1, wherein the nutritional composition further comprises at least one of prebiotics, probiotics, symbiotics, amino acids, proteins, nucleotides, fish oil, non-marine omega-3 fatty acids containing a dietary source of fat, phytonutrients, antioxidant and their combinations. 9. The method of claim 8, wherein the amino acid is selected from the group consisting of proline, hydroxyproline, hydroxytyrosine, hydroxylysine, and combinations thereof.
