A spinal fixation device that includes a firstengagement member. The first engagement member includes a firstbody and at least one extension. The secondbody includes a second aperture for receipt of a fastener.Further, an expansion ring including a first end and a second endis included. The first end includes a threaded surface inthreaded communication with the threaded extension. The secondend is in rotatable communication with the at least one extensionof the first engagement member. Where a torque is applied to theexpansion ring, the second engagement member moves with respectto the first engagement member.
