A spreader system (150) of an agricultural vehicle (100) for spreading crop residue including a spreader device (151L, 151R) and a fan (152L, 152R). The spreader device (151L, 151R) includes a plurality of paddles (151P) configured to rotate about a first axis (A1), with the rotation of the paddles (151P) producing a stream of crop residue (CS). The fan (152L, 152R) includes a plurality of impellers (152I) configured to rotate about a second axis (A2), with the rotation of the impellers (152I) producing a stream of air (AS). The stream of air (AS) is directed to exit the spreader system (150) beneath the stream of crop residue (CS) as the crop residue leaves the spreader device (151L, 151R).
