1. An isolated antibody that binds to a GAS57 polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 and reduces or inhibits the ability of wild-type GAS57 to cleave human IL-8.2. An isolated antibody obtained by a method comprising immunizing a non-human animal with a wild-type GAS57 polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, where the antibody binds to the wild-type GAS57 polypeptide and thereby reduces or inhibits the ability of the wild-type GAS57 to cleave human IL-8.3. An isolated antibody according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the antibody is a polyclonal antibody. An isolated antibody according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the antibody is a monoclonal antibody. The isolated antibody of claim 1 or 2, wherein the antibody is used to reduce or inhibit the ability of wild-type GAS57 to cleave human IL-8 in vitro. A composition comprising the isolated antibody of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The composition of claim 6, further comprising an active agent that can be used in a vaccine for children. The composition of claim 7, wherein said active agent is selected from the group consisting of (a) a polypeptide antigen selected from the group consisting of polypeptides N. meningitidis, S. pneumoniae, Bordetella pertussis, Moraxella catarrhalis, Clostridium tetani, Chorinebacterim diphteriae, respiratory - syncytial virus, poliovirus, measles virus, mumps virus, measles rubella virus and rotavirus； and (b) a nucleic acid molecule encoding the indicated polypeptide antigen of N. meningitidis, S. pneumoniae, Bordetella pertussis, Moraxella catarrhalis, Clostridium tetani, Chorinebacterim diphteriae, respiratory syncytial virus, poliovirus, measles virus, parota virus1.
