A system and method are provided for acquiring image data of an object with an imaging system. The system may include a gantry that completely annularly surrounds at least a portion of the object, which may be located along the isodensity center point of the imaging system. The system may include a source and a detector positioned within the gantry on the rotor and movable relative to the gantry.
