A horseshoe stud 1 including a ground-engaging part 3, and a horseshoe-engaging part 5, arranged for insertion into and engagement with a worn threaded stud hole or a horse shoe, the horseshoe-engaging part having an external thread which is tapered along the longitudinal axis. The thread may include crests and roots to engage with corresponding crests and roots of an internally threaded stud hole. The thread may be tapered at an angle of between 0.1 and 10 degrees relative to the longitudinal axis. The stud may be stainless steel. The stud may include means for facilitation rotation, such as a groove 9 in the ground engaging part. The ground engaging part may be tapered, flat, rounded or crenelated. Also disclosed is a method of forming the horseshoe stud, and a method of providing a studded horseshoe.
