The present invention has application in the field of vegetable preservation technology and relates to the development of a coating composed of the combination of chitosan polymer and cymbopogon citratus (d. c.) stapf essential oil. for use in postharvest conservation of fresh fruits. The application of the coating aims to promote control in the development of postharvest phytopathogenic fungi in these products, as well as maintain their quality characteristics (physicochemical and sensory) throughout storage at room temperature or refrigerated and present as an alternative to use. post-harvest synthetic fungicides in these products.a presente invenção tem aplicação na área de tecnologia de preservação de produtos hortifrutícolas e refere-se ao desenvolvimento de um revestimento composto da combinação do polímero quitosana e do óleo essencial de cymbopogon citratus (d. c.) stapf. para uso na conservação póscolheita de frutos in natura. a aplicação do revestimento objetiva promover o controle no desenvolvimento de fungos fitopatógenos pós-colheita nestes produtos, bem como manter as suas características de qualidade (físicoquímicas e sensoriais) ao longo do armazenamento em temperatura ambiente ou refrigerado e apresentar-se como uma alternativa ao uso de fungicidas sintéticos na fase pós-colheita nestes produtos.
