PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain images rich in gradation with a wide dynamic range and to reduce a recording capacity load to a device.SOLUTION: Compressing processing of gain, gamma, color-temperature or the like is carried out to input raw image data D1 when the raw image data D1 is input into a first image generating process 42, and a first image data D2 is generated, in which the color balance optimally displayed is held, when a color fundus oculi image is displayed. Image processings are carried out to R, G, B planes of the input raw image data D1 respectively, and second image data D3 for each of the R, G, B planes are generated when the raw image data D1 is input into a second image generating process 43. The raw image data D1 is output to the first image generating process 42, and the first image data D2 is obtained in the first image generating mode. The raw image data D1 is output to both the first and second image generating processes 42, 43, and the first and second image data D2, D3 are obtained in the second image generating mode.
