A milk meter (100) for obtaining information about the volume and/or mass of milk provided by a milking machine when milking animals. Here, the milk meter comprises at least one tubular measuring section (4) through which, in use, milk flows. The milk meter has as characteristic that the tubular measuring section (4) is provided with at least one measuring electrode assembly (8,10) for carrying out, per measuring electrode assembly, an impedance measurement on a milk volume present in the measuring section (4). Here, the tubular measuring section (4) has, at its inside at the location of the at least one measuring electrode assembly (8,10), an elongated slot-shaped cross section (9, 11) with at least two opposite long sides (12, 14) and, optionally, with short sides. Each long side of two opposite long sides (12, 14) is provided with at least one measuring electrode of the at least one measuring electrode assembly (8, 10)..
