A protective cover for use with a tracheostomy tube inserted into a patients trachea comprises a middle portion including an opening for a tracheostomy tube to pass through, a first strap portion extending from the middle portion in a first direction, and a second strap portion extending from the middle portion in a second direction opposite to the first strap portion. The covers middle portion and strap portions cover and substantially prevent secretions from reaching underlying equipment such as a trach tie and a neck plate used to secure the tracheostomy tube to the patient, while allowing the tracheostomy tube to be used for breathing.
