PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Sm bacillus specific aptamer, an Sm bacillus proliferation inhibitor which make the Sm bacillus specific aptamer an active substance, and a method for detecting an Sm bacillus which uses the Sm bacillus specific aptamer.SOLUTION: The Sm bacillus specific aptamer comprises a nucleic acid which consists of a base sequence expressed by the formula (1): 5-X-Y-Z-3, and has activity to combine with Streptococcus mutans (Sm) bacillus.
