Animal supplements comprise Melissa Officinalis (lemon balm) and L-Theanine in combination. The Melissa Officinalis may be present as an extract of Melissa Officinalis, or as one or more parts (such as leaves) of Melissa Officinalis. The active constituents may be mixed with excipients or carriers, and the supplement may comprise a powder, suspension, solution, paste, pellet, powder, granules, tablet, capsule, gel, syrup, parenteral dose, beverage, or foodstuff. The supplement may be used to modify animal behaviour, preferably by calming the animal. The supplement may be used to treat itchiness. The animal may be a cat, dog, cow or horse. The supplement is preferably used for horses, and may be used to improve gait and performance of horses in dressage. The Melissa Officinalis and L-Theanine are preferably in a ratio of 1:1.
