Compositions and methods are provided for the treatment of glaucoma by recovering the filtration ability of the inner layer of the schrem tube. More specifically, a method of lowering intraocular pressure is disclosed, and a therapeutic effective amount of the composition is administered to an object requiring such treatment. In various embodiments, the composition may comprise tyrosine or L-dopa, an enzyme encoding an enzyme, an enzyme, or a trabecular cell complexed to ASCO Lubin acid.
