<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planting base enhancing the water-holding function of soil and facilitated in maintenance. <；P>；SOLUTION: The planting base is structured as follows: forming a sand layer 3 on an aquifer 1 which is a water-holding part for securing a prescribed groundwater level； burying a gravel layer 5 in the sand layer 3 at a prescribed distance from the ground surface 13 of the sand layer 3 and the aquifer 1； and setting up a watering means 7 passing through the sand layer 3 and the gravel layer 5. The lower end 9 of the watering means 7 is disposed in the aquifer 1 and the upper end 11 thereof is disposed on the ground surface 13. Rainwater or sprayed water penetrating into the sand layer 3a from the ground surface 13 is prevented from penetration at the gravel layer 5 to be retained in the sand layer 3a located over the gravel layer 5. The watering means 7 pumps up the water in the aquifer 1 from the lower end 9 and sprays the water onto the ground surface 13 from the upper end 11 in response to water evaporation and/or rise in a salt concentration due to application of fertilizer in the sand layer 3a so as to periodically supply water to the sand layer 3a. <；P>；COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
