Disclosed is a use of an effervescent composition in solid form comprising: an acid-base system comprising an organic acid and a salt of the carbonate and/or bicarbonate anion； the salt being present in an amount comprised from 1 to 15% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition, a mixture comprising microcrystalline cellulose and arabinogalactan, - at least one probiotic bacterial strain having the ability to reduce and/or eliminate the presence of pathogenic agents selected from the group comprising: Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida parapsilosis, Candida krusei, Candida tropicalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Trichomonas vaginalis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Escherichia coli, Herpes simplex and Haemophilus ducreyi, in the manufacture of a medicament for vaginal applications for the treatment of vaginal infections.
