An apparatus for triggering a fall risk alert to a person is shown. The apparatus comprises a fall sensor configured to evaluate motions of the person so as to obtain a first fall risk value and a risk calculator configured to determine a second fall risk value based on a set of parameters. Furthermore, an adaption unit may determine weights associated with parameters of the set of parameters, wherein the adaption unit is configured to adapt the weights based on the first fall risk value. The apparatus is further configured to trigger the fall risk alert depending on the second fall risk value.
