The present disclosure relates to a PTA (percutaneous angioplasty) balloon catheter, preferably a high-pressure type catheter that can be introduced as an overwire catheter as needed. The catheter has the property of injecting fluid into the treatment site through a dedicated opening located proximal to the balloon member and introducing a fluid such as a contrast enhancing agent and / or drug. In some embodiments, at least a portion of a single lumen is used for fluid movement and dispersion (infusion) and passage of a guidewire. In some such embodiments, the valve mechanism is used to maintain selective maneuverability of the lumen so that the fluid is primarily or exclusively proximal to the guidewire distal outlet opening.
