PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface sheet excellent in liquid absorbency and having high clarity of an embossment recess.SOLUTION: A surface sheet 10 has a plurality of partition areas 12 partitioned by embossment recesses 11, and has projections 13 more protruded than the embossment recesses 11 in the partition areas 12. The partition areas 12 are defined by causing a plurality of embossment recess lines 221 and 222 where the plurality of embossment recesses 11 are connected in a line at intervals to cross each other. Among the embossment recesses constituting the embossment recess lines 221 and 222, a part of the embossment recesses comprises a linear part of a straight line or curved line with a finite length, having two end points.
