The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating blood vessel calcification or diseases related to bones including an Alpinia officinarum extract and, more specifically, a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating blood vessel calcification or disease related to bones including an Alpinia officinarum extract and a composition for food additives for preventing or improving blood vessel calcification or disease related to bones including an Alpinia officinarum extract wherein the composition includes the Alpinia officinarum extract and accordingly inhibits RANKL expression and signal transduction caused by RANKL, increases osteoprotegerin (OPG) and has effects of differentiating osteoclast and inhibiting the activity of osteoclast and has a capacity of facilitating osteoblast differentiation, thereby being used in a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating diseases related to bones like osteoporosis or blood vessel calcification or a composition for food additives for preventing or improving diseases related to bones or blood vessel calcification.본 발명은 고량강 (Alpinia officinarum) 추출물을 포함하는 골 관련 질환 또는 혈관 석회화의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물에 관한 것으로서, 보다 구체적으로 본 발명은 고량강 추출물을 포함하는 골 관련 질환 또는 혈관 석회화의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물 및 상기 고량강 추출물을 포함하는 골 관련 질환 또는 혈관 석회화의 예방 또는 개선용 식품 첨가용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 고량강 추출물을 포함하는 조성물은 RANKL 발현 억제, 오스테오프로테제린 (OPG) 발현 증가, RANKL에 의한 신호전달 억제, 파골세포 분화와 활성 억제 효과, 및 조골세포 분화 촉진 능력을 가지므로 골다공증을 비롯한 골 관련 질환 또는 혈관 석회화의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물 또는 골 관련 질환 또는 혈관 석회화 예방 또는 개선용 식품 첨가용 조성물로 이용될 수 있다.
