The present invention describes a novel function of TvLWGU-1 protein, which relates to the main participation thereof in the cytoadherence of Trichomonas vaginalis parasite to the host cell, this requiring the location of the TvLEGU-1 protein to be revealed in the surface of the parasite, testing such specific adherence and associating it as a virulence factor of this parasite. The inhibition of the TvLEGU-1 protein function is intended to inhibit or avoid the colonization of T vaginalis in the vaginal mucosa, developing non-toxic specific antitrichomonal chemotherapeutic agents topically or systemically administered.La presente invención se refiere a el uso de una molécula inhibidora de la actividad de la proteína TvLEGU-1 de Trichomonas vaginalis, donde la molécula es un anticuerpo o fragmentos activos del mismo, monoespecífico para el péptido que se selecciona del grupo que consiste de SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO. 4, SEQ ID NO. 5, SEQ ID NO.6, SEQ ID NO. 7 SEQ ID NO.8, SEQ ID NO. 9, SEQ I DNO. 10 SEQ ID NO.11 O SEQ ID NO.12, para fabricar un medicamento para tratar la infección ocasionada por Trichomonas vaginalis.
