The wire fixing portion 24 fixes a wire 23 that causes the hood 31 to protrude/retract at the distal end portion 2A in a direction parallel to an axis of the hood 31 that is a direction along an axial direction of the insertion portion 2, and when the hood 31 receives a force in a proximal end direction in a state in which the hood 31 protrudes in a distal end direction of the distal end portion 2A, generates a return force that causes the hood 31 to return to the protruding state.
