To provide a novel medical device that can rapidly, efficiently, reproducibly and safely transfer a pharmaceutical agent from the surface of a medical device (a coating) onto/into a specific site in the body.SOLUTION: There is provided a medical device comprising a balloon, and a coating on at least a portion of the balloon, wherein the coating comprises particles of a pharmaceutical agent, and wherein each particle of the pharmaceutical agent is at least partially encapsulated in a polymer layer.
