The present invention relates to interference pigments based on platelet-shaped substrates coated with at least four high-refractive-index layers and their use in paints, coatings, printing inks, plastics, and in particular cosmetic formulations. Interference pigments exhibit a moderate chroma and can be used as effect pigments, as filler pigments and as protectants against near-infrared, VIS and high-energy rays.
