PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent used for prevention, treatment or alleviation therapy of cancer in mammalian, which is an organic ligand having reducing toxicity to normal cells in an organic metal compound for parenteral administration, intestinal administration and local administration.SOLUTION: There are provided a benzene polycarboxylic acid water soluble polymer compound manufactured by alkali oxidation, having an element composition of C of 62 to 67%, H of 3.8 to 4.2%, O of 29 to 34% and N of less than 0.2% by dry weight and containing mineral impurities of total 1% or less by dry weight, a complex consisting of the polymer and a platinum compound or a molybdenum compound and an agent containing the complex. There is provided an agent represented by the molecular formula (C3H2O)x1(C2H2O)x2(CH2)x3(Pt(NH3)2)x4, where x1 to x4 are positive numbers.
