The moving image processing unit 35a generates playback-oriented moving image data from moving image data as a playback target. The display controller 32 plays back, on the display device 5, the playback-oriented moving image data generated by the moving image processing unit 35a. The release instruction input unit 36a receives input of a mid-playback release signal during playback of the playback-oriented moving image data on the display device 5. The still image generation unit 35c generates, from the moving image data, release image data corresponding to a playback image being played back on the display device 5 at the time of input of the mid-playback release signal. The recording controller 33a records, onto the recording device 6, the release image data generated by the still image generation unit 35c, in association with the moving image data.
