- Key View South Korea Agribusiness Key View Key View: Following a number of revisions to both our production and consumption forecasts in this update, we continue to hold a subdued outlook for the South Korean agricultural sector over our forecast period through to 2022. While the revisions to our forecasts have been mixed we highlight that our forecast average annual growth rates for the subsectors we cover remain largely positive, with contractions for both rice and wheat in both output and demand the notable exceptions to this trend. The livestock industry has been plagued by various disease outbreaks in the past although these have largely been contained. Government-led efforts will benefit the industry over the long term and help it to remain relevant These include: the expansion of education and financial support for farmers to allow them entry into the food processing business, plans to modernise traditional methods of food production, the creation of new agricultural food districts for exporters and the introduction of state designation of food exporting companies.
