- 摘要:
- Key View Key View: While our forecasts for the Central American agribusiness market continue to be broadly positive, we have made a number of revisions to our forecasts since our last update which mean that our outlook is less bullish than before. Revisions to both our production consumption forecasts in this update have been focused primarily on the grains and livestock markets where the changes to our forecasts have been largely to the downside. Despite this, we continue to only project a handful of average annual contractions in growth across the four markets and six countries we track in our forecasts through to the end of2023. As a result of rising incomes and growing populations, as well as an improving real GDP outlook for the region, our view is that demand growth will largely outstrip supply growth in the livestock and grains sectors over the next five years, with the beef market being the exception to this rule. In the sugar and coffee markets, the balance is slightly more in favour of output Focusing on the key sugar market we highlight that production growth will rise, predominantly owing to increasing yields thanks to the adoption of more productive sugarcane varieties, as well as better pest control and irrigation. Furthermore, our sugar price forecasts have turned positive for the first time in two years for 2019, which will provide a further boost to producers.
