International rice prices showed different trends according to origin. In several cereal import dependent countries, in particular in Central Asia and Central America, prices of wheat and maize have increased following trends in international markets with a slight delay, although they remained generally below their levels of a year earlier. In Africa, cereal prices have started to ease in regions where they were at peak levels following reduced harvests last year. Overall, however, prices are still at high levels.
