- 摘要:
- BMI Industry View BMI View: We have made minor forecast adjustments in the latest QI 2018 agribusiness update for Saudi Arabia. We retain the view that the market continues to perform in line with our forecasts as the phase-out of domestic grains production to save water will boost grain imports. Rising levels of grain imports will continue to feed growing domestic demand. The government is keen to ramp up poultry production and is encouraging investments in the livestock sector along with securing further imports from a growing number of destinations. The livestock market will track upwards at a steady pace over the medium-term. The chicken mortality rate in Saudi Arabia remains alarmingly high and will require an effective and comprehensive strategy to be rolled out nationally. We believe Saudi Arabia will find sufficient grains supply from the Black Sea region and the EU to supply its meat and food processing industry in the coming years. However, the country will remain highly vulnerable to volatile grains and feed prices. Recent spikes in feed prices have made us more cautious on margins for dairy and livestock producers in the country, especially those that import inputs from abroad. The national dairy sector is set to witness strong growth as the market remains a heavy consumer of dairy products. Dairy production will also grow as foreign investors use Saudi Arabia, the world's fifth largest dairy importer, as a regional hub for manufacturing and distribution of halal dairy butter and cheese.
