- Key View Key View: Colombia's agribusiness sector has been held back by a number of deep structural challenges, including the lingering consequences of internal armed confJict. operational inefficiencies and the resulting low competitiveness. Nevertheless, high demand and export opportunities coupled with strong investment will support a turnaround in the industry out to 2022/23. Significant investment such as the Plan Siembra (Planting Plan 2016-20 7 8), will support production growth. On the consumption side, rising incomes and growing national food consumption, along with the premiumisation of diet habits, will further bolster demand for food and nutritional products across the board.
