Total meat consumption in Venezuela has declined 68.9 percent since 2013 as a result of the economic collapse. However, a better economic environment since 2019 has led to a stabilization of beef production and significant growth in chicken production. In 2022, beef production is forecast to grow 5 percent from 2021 to 287,803 MT. Chicken meat production is forecast to grow 10 percent to 453,979 MT, mainly driven by more competitive prices and investments by industry in production. In 2022, pork production is forecast to reach 30,000 MT, an increase of 5 percent since 2021. Venezuela remains heavily dependent on local production for its supply of meat, with chicken being the only major category with significant import values. In 2022, chicken meat imports are forecast at 21,000 MT, a growth of 48 percent increase from 14,200 MT in 2021. Brazil continues to be the main supplier.
