The invention concerns a medical device and a method for its production, wherein the device comprises a cannula (14) having an elongated hollow shaft (16) and a sharp tip (18) provided at a distal end of the shaft (16), wherein the shaft (16) is formed as a bent part from a sheet material and confines an interior passage (42) which has a lateral slit opening (44), and wherein the shaft (16) has at least one longitudinal pre-bending channel (38) provided in the sheet material, wherein the thickness of the sheet material is reduced along the pre-bending channel (38) and a sidewall (40) of the shaft (16) is folded over the pre-bending channel (38).
