The invention relates to carrier compositions for nucleic acid delivery which comprise a cationic peptide or polymer in combination with a cationic lipid. In a further aspect, the invention relates to nanoparticles comprising a complex of a bioactive cargo material with the peptide or polymer and the lipid.
