PURPOSE: A composition including the extract of carpinus tschonoskii leaves as an active ingredient is provided to effectively inhibit the production of interleukin-12 p40, interleukin-6 and TNF-&alpha；, thereby being usefully used for prevention and treatment of autoimmune disease cause by the interleukin-12 p40, interleukin-6 and TNF-&alpha；. CONSTITUTION: A composition for the prevention and treatment of autoimmune disease includes the extract of carpinus tschonoskii leaves as an active ingredient. The autoimmune disease is one selected from multiple sclerosis (MS), psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, type 1 diabetes mellitus, inflammatory bowel disease or systemic lupus. A pharmaceutical composition for the prevention and treatment of the autoimmune disease includes at least one additive selected from a group consisting of a carrier, a diluting agent, a disintegrating agent, a sweetener, a coating agent, an expander, a lubricant, glydents, a flavoring agent, an antioxidant, a buffer solution, a bacteriostatic agent, a diluent, a dispersing agent, a surfactant and a binder.본 발명은 개서어나무 잎 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 자가면역질환의 예방 및 치료용 조성물을 제공하고자 한다.
