PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for determining a load on a driver which allows quantitative determination of the degree of a load on a driver.
SOLUTION: The device for determining a load on a driver includes an eyeball rotational angular speed-calculating section 63, an eyeball rotational angular speed-determining section 64, a high-speed eyeball movement rate-determining section 65, and a driving load degree-determining section 67, wherein the eyeball rotational angular speed-calculating section 63 successively calculates the eyeball rotational angular speed of the driver based on the eyeball electric potential of a driver which is detected by an eyeball potential detector 31 the eyeball rotational angular speed-determining section compares the absolute value of the eyeball rotational angular speed calculated by the eyeball rotational angular speed-calculating section with a predetermined threshold to determine that the eyeball is in a high-speed eyeball movement state when the eyeball rotational angular speed exceeds the threshold the high-speed eyeball movement rate-determining measures the time in which the eyeball reaches a high-speed eyeball movement state according to the determination result of the eyeball rotational angular speed-determining section 64, thereby calculating the time rate of the high-speed eyeball movement state within a predetermined determination time: and driving load degree-determining section determines the degree of a load on the driver based on the time rate of the high-speed eyeball movement state calculated by the high-speed eyeball movement rate-determining section 65.
