Another object of the present invention is to provide a novel composition for promoting the production of antibacterial peptides, which contains Lactobacillus helveticus SBT2171 as an active ingredient. The present invention provides a composition for preventing periodontal disease, which contains Lactobacillus helveticus SBT2171 (FERM BP-5445) as an active ingredient. Also provided are foods and drinks for preventing periodontal disease, agents for preventing periodontal disease, and feeds for preventing periodontal disease, which contain the composition for preventing periodontal disease.
