Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Primen eines extrakorporalen Blutsystems (2) für eine Behandlung mittels einer Vorrichtung zur extrakorporalen Blutbehandlung, wobei das extrakorporale Blutsystem eine arterielle Blutleitung (4), eine venöse Blutleitung (5), ein Pumpsegment (10) zum Zusammenwirken mit einer peristaltischen Blutpumpe (11) der Vorrichtung und eine Blutbehandlungseinheit (6), insbesondere einen Dialysator (6), umfasst, wobei ein Anschluss (12, 13) der venösen Blutleitung (5) an einen venösen Blutanschluss der Blutbehandlungseinheit (6) angeschlossen wird, ein Anschluss (8, 9) der arteriellen Blutleitung (4) an einen arteriellen Blutanschluss der Blutbehandlungseinheit (6) angeschlossen wird und das extrakorporale Blutsystem (2) an ein Reservoir (27) mit Primingflüssigkeit (26) angeschlossen wird, nachfolgend das nicht okkludierte extrakorporale Blutsystem (2) mit Primingflüssigkeit (26) gefüllt wird und das Pumpsegment (10) nach dem Füllen mit Primingflüssigkeit (26) automatisch mittels einer Blutpumpe (11) der Blutbehandlungsvorrichtung okkludiert wird.
