PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To intend to make the best use of a kudzu root extract after purification of kudzu starch which has been discarded, and to provide an inexpensive and effective cosmetic material.SOLUTION: It has been found that the kudzu root extract after purification of kudzu starch which has been discarded exhibits stronger skin whitening action and anti-oxidant action than the existing kudzu root extract and abundantly contains 6-geranyl-coumestrol therein.
