The group of inventions relates to dentistry. Proposed is a method for diagnosing facial configuration in the restoration of mandibular defects which is characterized in that on a full-face photograph or full-face scan of a patient an initial facial frame is formed which corresponds to the individual proportions of the patient's face. Then, with the aid of computer tomography, a full-face image is obtained, and the image obtained is dimensionally aligned with the photograph or scan of the patient's face by the matching of reference points. Next, a secondary facial frame is formed on the photograph or scan of the patient's face which corresponds to the initial proportions of the patient's face and in which the bases and side borders are 62% and 38% of the corresponding dimensions of the initial facial frame, the latter being superimposed on the image obtained with the aid of computer tomography to determine the need to correct the height of the dental arches in the event of a difference in the heights of the frames, and also to determine the difference in the heights of the frames which corresponds to the height by which the dental arches are to be reconstructed.
