PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Co-based alloy for living bodies capable of having strength and/or ductility equal to or above that of the conventional Co-based alloy for living bodies without depending on the addition of a large quantity of Ni and the use of a special mold which have been done in the conventional Co-based alloy for living bodies (an Ni-added material and an Ni-free material), and to provide a method for producing the same.
SOLUTION: Disclosed is a Co-based alloy for living bodies having a composition comprising, by mass, 26 to 30% Cr, 5 to 8% Mo, &le0.20% C and 0.05 to 0.25% N, and the balance substantially Co, and in which the average value of crystal grain sizes is 1.5 to 15 &mum, and the ratio of an FCC phase is &ge90% ...(1). Disclosed is a Co-based alloy for living bodies in which the ratio of an HCP phase is &le5% regarding the above Co-based alloy ... (2). Disclosed is a method for producing a Co-based alloy for living bodies characterized in that a Co-based alloy having a composition similar to the above is heated at 950 to 1,250°C, is forged under the conditions where forging stamping temperature is &ge870°C and forging strain to be applied is &ge30%, is thereafter air-cooled for 5 to 200 s, and then, is directly water-cooled ...(3).
